Letter from the Founder

To our customers and community,
Blackinkk started with a simple idea: carry less, carry better. After a 2013 leather workshop and crafting a humble coaster, nights and weekends turned into practising leather craft in the garage, where I learned how a millimetre here or a curve there changes the way a wallet feels in the hand. That curiosity still guides everything we make.
In 2015, we set up a small stand at a local market in Brisbane. Real pockets and honest feedback shaped the early pieces. Those conversations taught me what matters most.
Blackinkk has grown in quiet steps since then. The Bifold Cardholder took shape in 2017 with considered folds inspired by origami. In 2025, that design was recognised with a Good Design Australia award in Product Design. It is a kind affirmation of years spent refining small details.
Our leather comes through Packer Leather, a fifth‑generation family business established in 1891. Their craft sits behind the lightness and strength you feel in our kangaroo leather pieces. We work closely with them to choose the right weights, colours and finishes.
We describe our ethos in three words: Less, Better, Forever.
Less is clarity. Better is care. Forever is responsibility.
You will see these ideas across our range: wallets that stay slim, a key organiser that keeps keys quiet, and small accessories that support a calm carry. Every product begins with sketches and small batches, then moves through tests and revisions until it feels right.
I am grateful for the people who carry our work. Many of you have been with us since the early days. Your reviews, messages and worn‑in pieces teach us as much as any sketchbook.
If you ever need help choosing a wallet, adding initials, or caring for a piece, write to us. We reply. If something fails, we fix it. It is as simple as that.
Thank you for trusting us with a place in your pocket.
There is more to come.
